Surprisingly, I did get paid for this. I wasn't able to be placed into a group, so I returned the study as instructed, and 5 days later I got bonused $6. Technically I think I should've gotten *slightly* more because I took a little over 33 minutes, but otherwise everything was as described.
When I didn't agree that their AI had summarized my words correctly, I was told to return the survey. And they'd sent me two messages throughout the day to remind me of the pending study. Wrote them to thank thank them for twisting my words and wasting my time.
Threatened with rejection for technical issues on their end, which is explicitly not allowed by Prolific's terms. I'm waiting to see if they actually pay out, will be blocking them after it's resolved either way.
Did the study got a completion code. 16 days later get a rejection and this message Dear participant, Your submission was rejected for study "Online Conversations and Opinions Study — Day 2 Session" for the following reasons: Gave no study data Didn't answer essential questions
I got this response this morning, with another message saying that I have until the 10th to return or they will reject my submission. Their study was having significant technical issues, I messaged them about it not working and then got it to open on the third try. When it came time to be connected with another participant, I just got a spinning circle. Left it open for the full hour and then submitted with a note to Prolific about what happened. According to Prolific's terms, they are not allowed to reject a submission for technical issues on their end, which I informed them of this morning. :) So we'll see how that goes.
