A 4 minute study that I did in 2 mins and received this message. 'Dear participant, Your submission was rejected for study "A study about your attitudes toward your body Copy" for the following reasons: Finished the study too quickly' I messaged the researcher saying that I don't think doing a multiple choice 4 minute study in 2 minutes where I failed no attention checks is finishing "too quickly." I asked why I couldn't just return the study instead as a rejection is a black mark against my account. No reply from Pierrick, no reply from Prolific when I reported this (Twice.) Been trying to get this rejection off my account since November. This all predates when Prolific started sending their own speeding messages too. I have no idea why Pierrick couldn't have just asked me to return the study if it getting completed in 2 mins bothered him so much. I would have happily obliged. Giving up 75p and 2 mins of my time in order not to have a black mark on my account is a very easy choice. I would have blocked and moved on. But here I am, writing paragraphs :( (Side note: God bless the person who came up with this site ๐)
You should tell the researcher that Prolific allows researchers to reject fast submissions that are statistical outliers (3 standard deviations below the mean), so ask him if he could provide the standard deviation and mean of his dataset so you could calculate if you're actually below that. Also what's the average completion time of that study? Is it close to your completion time? If it is, then you could bring that up to Prolific again with a screenshot of the average completion time. Make sure to use the dispute Google form.
