I love doing studies by this researcher. They always pay quickly and offer bonuses. The studies are fun.
fast payout, straightforward to do
quick and easy headphones needed
"Unfortunately the survey is not available at the moment. There may have been a technical issue, or we are at capacity. Please return the study, and try again later." - Right. Very broken studies. Avoid.
Great researcher, always do their studies when they show up. Consistently pay very well for the time put in, and the last week I've noticed they started paying some bonuses on top of the already high pay. The last few I've done for them have all given a bonus of 0.75$ or 1$ on 3~ minute studies. Would highly recommend!
This study’s audio check has unfortunately been very unreliable. It worked fine for me two days ago, but now it fails every time even though I’m using the exact same computer, microphone, and setup. I've tried making adjustments to input volume, when I play back the audio my voice sounds crystal clear. Have made sure there's no background noise, simply cannot get it to work anymore. I finally got the audio checks to work, and my submission was rejected. Reason given "Your submission could not be approved because automated quality checks flagged the session."
East study, very straightforward. Paid within minutes, with a bonus! Happy Days!
This review is on the tool used to verify eligibility for this survey. Previously, using the same equipment I passed with a "high" quality. However, for this survey, I was disqualified for the following reason: "We couldn't verify your recording. Something went wrong while reviewing your audio." Curiously, the same system that claimed it couldn't verify my recording somehow said everything else passed: Low background noise Clear acoustics Voice clearly detected Strong microphone quality Quiet surroundings This is incredibly frustrating. If the problem were with my equipment, I could address it by improving my microphone, computer, or internet connection. However, based on the feedback provided, the system appears to recognize that my audio quality is acceptable while failing at the verification step itself. Even with an ideal setup, this type of verification failure would still prevent participation. I also contacted the researcher twice regarding this issue but have not received a response. This occurred across multiple attempts, using different equipment, over several days.
I had the same issue but it was fixed by the next day. Just thought I'd throw it out there that it may have been a bug.
Ah, I see that the requestor name has been redacted, but you can cross reference via the study name, still. This set of studies are not the most well-paying when it comes to AI studies (in fact, the rate of compensation is half or less than that of the 'other' well-known player in this domain). However, the task is probably 1/4 of the effort (i.e., it's much easier). This might be an okay thing to do in the downtime when the 'other' studies are not available or unusually quiet (e.g., perhaps the weekends). The only thing that makes me uncomfortable about participating in these studies is that we might be collectively encouraging requestors to underpay us (i.e., by accepting their rate of compensation, we are signaling a willingness to work for pennies/peanuts when we could be making much more for our time).
there is a clear pattern from this researcher of underpay, I won't do any more from them.
I don't know who this guy Joaquin is but he's total goat. The study was kinda boring to be honest I felt so bored listening to this voices but it was worth it. Just 10 minutes of work for some very good money. The pay on the study is broken on this site, it actually pays $3.83 upon completion without counting the bonus payment.
Fast approval.
Excellent study by Joaquin who surprised me with this gift of a study. Easy to fill up. Just, if you use mobile, put the phone in landscape mode as the site isn't adapted for portrait mode.
Took me a little less than the intended time, approved quickly, and they bonused me $0.75 for some reason (I suppose it was meant as an adjustment?). Very easy study
I love you bro i earned 100 dollars with this guy
Easy. Fast approval.
I read the consent form and then immediately returned the study. It states that - my audio and images can be used for commercial applications and purposes - my audio and images can be used by third parties and - that the audio can be played in television and radio. I’m usually always happy to provide audio and video recordings for scientific purposes. I was also really interested in participating in the study, as I’d like to share my perspective on my communication style with for science. But I don’t want to give up all my rights in exchange for what is, in comparison, such a small compensation*, especially when I don’t even know exactly what I’m giving them up for or how they’ll be used. In my opinion, it seems very suspicious that this study is defined as scientific research. I'm really confused because I've actually had very good experiences with Joaquin in the past. (*Compensation is marked as "dynamic", they said 15$/hour but compared to what they could use my audio for, that's really not nearly enough)
Very fast approvals and very fast studys usually taking way less then the intended completion times listed.
Super easy study. Pays very quickly.
Long study, but easy to do and pays well. Just listen to some audio clips, and answer some questions. Pays out within a few hours at the latest. Great researcher!
Always do these if you can. Usually quick and easy and the longer ones pay well too.
I've done a few of these and they are pay out really quickly! Like others have mentioned, the advertised time is longer than what it actually takes so just keep in mind for the potential speed warning. I received one once but everything else has been okay.
It honestly took me awhile longer than the estimated completion just for the fact it was an over 2 hour study, and.. well I feel like it could have paid a little more for the time and effort? But I also feel like I can't complain about the pay. It was well enough for me, but I feel like I can imagine others saying otherwise.
Takes about half the advertised time so be warned you may get a potential speeding warning (I didn't) but pays quickly and is super easy to do
This researcher pays fairly and approves quickly but the time allotted for some of these studies is way too long and I got a speeding warning for one because it was short and easy. I returned it just in case.
Rating TTS audio samples for various features has been great, and the researcher approves quickly and fairly.
I've completed several studies, and all were approved with no issues. I usually finish the ~10-minute ones in 5 minutes, which has not triggered the speed warning yet.
First survey i did was too quick and I got a speed warning, but the audio samples were 3/4 seconds long and it only asked if it sounded correct yes or no. I had a few more and I waited between responses and they were fine. No issues and fast payment.
I've done many ratings for this researcher and never had a rejection. They always take a fraction of the stated time (usually 3~ minutes with an estimate of 10), so the pay rate is very good, and they always approve very quick. The only issue I've had is one was way too quick (4 15~ second clips with one easy question for each with an estimate of 10 minutes), so it was auto flagged for speeding. Researcher still approved it, just annoying to have a speeding flag because of it.
Was nearer to 20 minutes than stated 10. Said samples would be under 30 seconds but multiple were towards or over 2 minutes each.
One of the best studies out there!! Highly recommended
Unfair screening out. The service/tool used to determine my microphone quality was clearly useless. It flagged my "silence recording" because it didn't seem a "real registration in real time". Say what?! What does that even mean?!
This researcher had some problems with their studies, however, they seem to be fixed for now,
Hi, I participated in the study "त्वरित हिंदी ऑडियो गुणवत्ता जाँच (माइक्रोफ़ोन आवश्यक)". I was able to start the study normally and completed the initial steps. I granted microphone permission and selected my microphone successfully. However, when I proceeded to the recording step, the study displayed the message: "Couldn't load a prompt. We couldn't load a prompt for your language right now. Please try again in a moment." I tried multiple times, but the same error persisted. After leaving the study and trying to re-enter using the original Prolific link, I received an "Authorization Failed" message, so I was unable to continue. Since the technical issue prevented me from completing the study, I returned it. This was unfortunate because I have a proper setup, a good-quality microphone, and I am fluent in Hindi, so I was fully eligible to participate. Unfortunately, the study-side error made it impossible for me to proceed. From my experience, the Daikon platform has also been quite unstable, and I've encountered technical issues with it on more than one occasion. It may be worth checking whether there are any issues with the platform integration or the prompt-loading process, as these problems prevented me from completing the study despite meeting all the requirements.
Took a little less time than intended, easy and paid ok
the best researcher!! really
I would've liked to complete this study because, if I understood correctly, there may be other studies I could participate in, and I believe I meet the eligibility criteria. Unfortunately, I ran into a technical issue that prevented me from completing it.
It just happened to me to right now, after recording the audios two times i had an error while veryfing the audios two times.
I was only able to complete the first recording. When the website asked me to record a second time after I got the error it didn't even load the prompt, so I couldn't continue. I sent a message to the researcher. It's a shame, I've done two other studies for them so far and got no problems.
and i was not able to record as it showed me an error - unable to load prompts for your language
I ran into the same issue with the Portuguese one. It wouldn't verify the audio quality, returned an error and then I couldn't record it again.
I've done quite a few studies with this researcher, and so far, the "Rate TTS Samples" study has been one of the most enjoyable and efficient ones to complete. Sometimes it takes less than 10 mins, and sometimes a bit longer, but it's never an issue. There are only 10 questions per session, which makes it very easy and no stress to do. Approvals are very quickly, the instructions are also clear, and the pay is good as well.
While in the past I have had numerous issues with studies by this researcher, they have really been transparent and communicated. I've noticed a marked improvement in the UI/UX of studies, and there are less odd issues. Plus they always pay really fairly.
There were some issues, however, it seems to be ok overall.
Approves day of or next day without issue. Simple study to take but the pay could definitely be better because sometimes the study has more to do in it despite being labelled the same way, so it's more work for the same pay as the shorter ones.
Could've paid a bit better, and it was kind of tedious just because of how long it was. I would have a lot more (mostly good) to say if it wasn't confidential. Overall it was a long study, paid semi-okay per hour. I would do it again if I am in the mood for a long study.
Pretty easy and fun confidential study, pays great
Today I returned 8, completed 2. The returns just would not load, first screen was fine, clicked for consent, and then it just says 'Loading' at top of screen gave each one a good few minutes to load.
won't load. 2 different ones, same issue. EDIT - 3 ones same issue. Have tried on chrome and opera. A shame as the one i did this morning was great, worked fine and paid quickly.
Thanks for the feedback! The multiple browser tip is really helpful - I'll make sure to forward that over to our team.
I believe this study does not work on Firefox Browsers. EDIT: This survey seems to be giving trouble to users regardless of Browser.
I had the same issue on Chrome - it appears to be happening to others today as well, so might just be an off day https://www.reddit.com/r/ProlificAc/comments/1ueex70/joaquin/
Same. Had to return 2 because they wouldn't work for Brave. The eternally-loading page.
Hey! Friend of Joaquin here - we've heard the feedback loud and clear across both here and the subreddit and are actively investigating the issue with the surveys that went out this morning. We appreciate the feedback from our community of survey-takers here, and we thank you for your patience while we're working on getting this resolved 🙏
The study suggests 10 minutes, I got a warning / lockout for completing too fast. I had to listen to 4 audio clips (each was about 10 seconds) then guess their accent. The whole thing was done in about a minute. I think the estimated time is way off
simple to do, payment almost instantly approved
Easy to do and correct completion time. Approved quickly
Mileage may vary on this one. I did two of them and both approved within an hour or so. They were fun and easy to do. Different instructions for different tasks and some were short examples and others were longer. There's also different questions for the different tasks
Low paying and broken. The study says the clips are usually under 30 seconds long but the first one I had was 2 minutes long. The example text was cut off. And then it wouldn't proceed to later tasks.
The example text will get cut off but you just need to listen to the entire TTS example and answer the respective questions based on what you hear. There are different studies that share similar qualities.
Similarly broken? Yes. -- Only a handful of the studies operate in the manor you describe. The majority of the studies I've been given are just broken and cannot be completed.
Took me double the estimated time. Not sure if it was because I was slow. I can't share specifics, but they did ask me to justify my reasoning with writing, which added a bit of time.
Confidential - easy and quick.
A study that was so quick to complete I worried I would get a speed warning. Only took half the intended completion time and was approved a few minutes after submission.
The study started with a statement telling us how important it was to get the tasks right, and I was so worried about making mistakes that I took twice as long as the average completion time and timed-out. I've messaged the researcher with the completion code, but haven't had a reply at the time of writing.
I enjoyed this study because it was different than others I've done, a nice change of pace! However, I wish there was a couple practice tasks that would give you real-time feedback before the main study, I'm worried I didn't do something like they wanted and will get rejected for it. I'll update once approved!
Excellent study with easy to follow instructions. I don't remember exactly how it went but as far as I remember, I had no issue.
Good pay for the amount of time, easy audio study.
Easy audio studies, get approved immediately, and almost always get some bonuses.
Easy and quick audio studies. Approves quickly and 99% of the time you get a bonus.
