very good maze study that is for once relevant to my country and that was meant for me.

Quite a great well paid study by Maze, but the prototype to view was quite laggy on mobile so I kinda can't give a perfect.
I do surveys by this researcher ALL the time and they're great. Pay pretty well and one of the best researchers on Prolific. Their surveys are fun to do!
The AI asked a bunch of lengthy questions, which led me to being timed out. I reported the study and contacted the researcher.
Why?
One of Maze's worst studies I've been taking. Like, I get it that the platform can be legit when it works, but please do not screen out people for having a desktop/laptop only on the Prolific page while actually searching for mobile users. As I deadass got screened out for having a laptop to take the study instead of a phone, despite the prolific requirements saying "devices you can take the study on: Desktop". For $0.25 of screenout reward, this feels dishonest.
Mobile only. The usual maze style of talking about using an app.
quick and easy to do. Mobile only
Rating new banking app pages for renewing fixed rate accounts. I have only given 4 stars as it was hard ot work out how to advance from one screen – I had to click the button that said abandon to be able to carry on. Paid in 4 days, rate not too bad
Always almost instant approval, never had a problem with them
This study asked if you are willing to create an account on an external site to continue with the study. If you answer in the affirmative, it directs you to create an account. After creating the account, I continued in the survey by acknowledging account creation, only to be then screened out. Make of it what you will, but this is what it is like doing studies for Maze.
got on it, then the first question was about the turnover of my business. I dont have a business. It did not say in the blurb I needed to be a business owner. 2nd question asked my role - eg director etc. Had to return. SAY in the blurb who you want!!
quick and easy to do. Needs microphone, but not entirely clear which bits you are meant ot talk about
Fair payment.
For me maze is the best . :)
Interesting and easy to do study, overall I have completed a few studies by this researcher, at times screened out, but screen out payment applies, I had to wait a week once for payment, however the rest have approved within hours, up to 72 hours.
must be done on tablet, but screen sharing does not work on my tablet, so I clicked on the "leave study" button it presented. Noticed then it had given me a rejection. So I clicked the 3 dots and returned it instead which seems to have worked.
Thank you for mentioning the 3 dots! This same thing happened to me and I was then able to return it after seeing you mention it.
Frequent screen outs but when doing studies I have always been approved. Approval can come within few days to 2 weeks.
Often rejected after completing demographic questions or told that the survey isn’t available (which is considered a rejection as well). After two rejections by Maze Research by Prolific account was placed on a temporary hold for 24 hours. Once my ban was lifted, I blocked the researcher.
I've done lots of studies for maze and they're usually fairly enjoyable and usually pay decent. Attention check questions are a little cheesy, but once you know what to look for they're easy. I've had a few issues in the past with the estimated times being unrealistic (one I remember was estimated at 45 minutes or so and took me around 70), but that seems to have been better lately. They also do take a while to approve (usually a week or two), but I've never had an issue with a rejection from them. Screen outs are frequently but have always happened for me in the first couple of questions and pay 25 cents, so I don't mind.
Often screened-out. Thus low pay. Sometimes doesn't. If you're bored or eligible go for it.
I had second thoughts when the software download page loaded. It asked if I wanted to continue and I said no. It took me back to the Prolific survey page and auto-filled the code. I assumed it was a screen out and didn't think anymore about it. Then I received a received a return request because my submission wasn't up to snuff, immediately followed by a rejection. ?? It did let me return it, but it really rubbed me the wrong way. I told them I didn't want to complete the survey. They entered their own code and then rejected it. **curse words!**
Hi WithDogs, There's an Chrome extension that can help prevent this. It's called the Prolific Auto-reject & Screen-out Prevention Tool
I completed this submission in good faith and followed all instructions. It was rejected with little explanation. I raised this with the researcher for specific feedback so I could try to understand why but have received no reply to date. I am considering a SAR as getting rejections without fair explanation and being ignored appears to be becoming a real problem for this Site in general and appears to be causing good participants to look elsewhere...
Adequately paying. Occasional technical issues. Frequent screenouts.
This is a shitty researcher, and the thing really pisses me off is that prolific upheld the rejection after I have submitted my appeal
You can expect frequent rejections with this one. Also, you need to download an app which has really bad ux and it unintuitive. I wouldn't bother with this one personally,
Normally they work fine I did the full 20 min interview got to the end and then auto rejected saying I never did it.
Another one of those studies where they make recording mandatory. Their screeners are hard to understand. Only for them to screen out and pay me 25 cents in usd.
run out of time cause researcher doesn't know how to use maze while building studies. access was private so i couldn't open. sent few messages to researcher through prolific asking to make an access in maze public so i can open it. when i finally got an access to research, i had 15 min left to complete it. ofc i run out of time. and ofc complete silence from researcher side. i'm so tired of wasting hours on situations like that.
Always screened out of studies
In this study, I got a rejection for intentionally giving low effort responses. This is an auto rejection I believe was caused by the buggy prototype which couldn't reach the end of a task properly. I wrote to them regarding the issue and they didn't repsponse. I disputed with Prolific support but Prolific has decided to uphold it. I am frustrated for being accused of intentionally low effort while I spent serioius effort on the study.
The study was one that targets a Dutch audience in regards to online banking. They have been doing this a lot lately. Their studies never fail me. And they are often quick and pay well enough. This one it self was fine. And nothing really out of the ordinary.
This was a bit confusing, had you try and create a log-in for a real website, but didn't clarify whether you should use fake aliases and your prolific email/a fake email, or genuine information. Good instructions would specify more on that. It didn't allow for you to sign up to the website regardless, but my submission was still accepted.
Apparently went through the study too fast for their liking, despite doing all the attention checks and following each task with care. I usually don't have this issue with this specific researcher, but I feel like they're slowly going downhill.
My first approved one, from many screened-out ones (wrong demographics) to returned studies (their app does not work properly or I did some dilly-dallying answers just for fun and it turned out without technical issues). My approval was less than 48 hours from the estimated up to 72 hours. Anyways, I always avoid those video capture ones and, to an extent, the ones that ask for voice recording. My reason is simple: not giving away my biometric data, especially for cheaply paid bucks. Otherwise, the rest is cool and okie dokie.
always screen out, that was the only one i got approved
Just did a study listed as 6 minutes and it took over 20 at a normal pace. SO many endless questions. I got timed out and wasted over 20 minutes on a study that should have taken 6.
I've done several studies with Maze and for the most part things went well until they didn't. I once got an automatic rejection for unknown reasons. I was able to reach out to them and to my surprise they responded in a timely manner and before I knew it the rejection was lifted. I did several more studies for them until the last time where I got a rejection for intentionally giving low effort responses. My mind was blown because I did everything that was asked of me considering the site I was to review was buggy and didn't show every component of the site. Again I wrote to them regarding the issue and this time I received zero response and Prolific has decided to uphold it. It's not worth it to continue taking their surveys.
Carefully read the first question, those are usually attention checks. After, it's pretty straightforward from there.
Rejection happy researcher with unfair and unclear attention checks with low contrast fonts on personal demographics (age). Studies often screen out anyway. If not screened out you often have to jump through lots of extra steps and use their app for a low rate of pay. Just save yourself the hassle of risking a rejection and block the researcher.
Their design of attention checks is very shitty and unnecessarily !!
The maze platform frequently has technical issues.
I selected how many hours I work online and my age bracket and they rejected me, am I supposed to contemplate my age for minutes straight??
This has to be a scam atp
Thats usually the attention check which is dumb tbf
They said i missed the attention questions and rejected me.
Apparently you have to sit there idly for a full minute or two to select your age range or else these guys kick you out for being too fast and inattentive. And I have been a Wise customer for literally 5 years, so they would have gotten some good feedback out of me if their survey parameters were reasonable. Oh well, they're blocked now!
lol
This study was supposed to be about 15 minutes. Instructions initially were confusing; I was told to watch a stream and not told how long I needed to watch it for, so I watched the entire video, which took 14 mins of my time. I completed the follow up questions relating to said stream afterward and upon finishing returned to Prolific where I had "timed out." Completing this took 20 or so mins. I hadn't checked the allotted time before this as the estimated time of completion was supposed to have been 15. Unfortunately there was not enough time. The researcher hasn't responded to my message and will not pay out for the data I provided them.
The app bugged when sending the recording, screwing up my session and everything. I had to return it and block Maze.Design because I'm fed up with being treated like nothing by their service.
This study is quite mid compared to other studies from them because this one comes back every once in a while like a hydra and I still get screened out because none of the banks they ask me to select are my local bank, which sucks because as a Belgian citizen, I get asked to select American banks.
That's oddly funny because I'm Canadian and I get asked about UK banks. I think their demographics algorithm is a bit broken.
It's not broken, it just straight up sucks.
Absolute trash, they will automatically reject you for tons of different things. Don't do any Maze studies, unless you don't value your time on Prolific. Don't bother contacting them or Prolific about any issues related to their studies either.
I did only one study for them so I don't have very much experience with this researcher but it went smooth and I got my funds pretty fast. The study was targeted for a specific group which I don't belong to and that's why I'm giving 4 stars because I should've been screened out faster but I kept doing the study and got to the parts where I shouldn't be because I did not know what to do but eventually it screened me out.
Excellent survey with good follow-ups and intelligent questions. Fair and great.
When you first start using Prolific, you should block maze.design! Their surveys contain technical issues such as incorrect passwords or screened you out, which cause participants to waste time downloading the app and answering basic questions, only to end up unable to complete the process and receive a rejection. In addition, some surveys include unnecessary attention checks using extremely small fonts and low-contrast colors, which can lead to rejection without appeal. Attention checks are acceptable, but they should be designed in a way that users can reasonably notice and read them.
Impossible to complete the task they gave me, they password they sent me was invalid so i had to return the study.
I had to block them, they always reject everything for no reason
I personally have had no issues with them. I've done a few studies and while a few of them were screened out, the others were approved within 3 days and were very fairly paid. That being said, studies often have lot of writing portions that cause me to spend way longer on the study than the average time suggests.
Got an auto reject and it just says other after I did survey and was able to get it overturned after a few weeks then blocked. I see others have the same problems.
No issues in four studies from them so far. I've only had a few opportunities to contribute to Maze.design studies, and the majority of the time I get a screenout after receiving a few cents.
Rejected me for this study with only an automated response after passing an attention check and no explanation, no reply.
Rejected me for this study with only an automated response and no explanation, then didn't reply to my message asking why.
Fair researcher. They always have an attention test in the first few questions and after that they often screen for requirements in the following questions. Never had a rejection or other problems.
Compare the various mobile banking designs and give your honest feedback. The study was straightforward and wanted several written responses regarding a design. No issues with the project or attention checks, just personally I felt that it paid a bit low for the amount of writing. I'm not exactly sure how much detail they want but I also don't want to write a few words of crap just to complete a study.
No issues with 5 studies from them. They pay out pretty quick too. Seems most rejections here are people not reading question #1 correctly. Only 4 star because activating your mic and camera to get screened out is a little shady.
Rejected in the initial screening. Being rejected for a screening is crazy. Let us return it instead.
Rejected after a stupid "attention check" about my age. I'm 33 yo, i will not choose the "18 or lower" option! I tried to talk with them about this situation, their answer : it's automatic and we cannot revert it! Great!
Rejected after completing the prescreening and being screened out. Researcher has refused to reply or answer any questions.
Be careful with this researcher guys, because it likes to reject for unclear reasons.
Lately maze has become the epitome of "enshittification". 90% of the time, after wasting a few minutes replying to their "screening" questions, you get screened out after wasting around 5 minutes. Sometimes they end up autorejecting you instead of screening out. What bothers me though is the fact that during the pre-screening, most of the time you're required to have camera and mic on which allows them to record you. Now, after answering 5-10 answers of them, what makes me not to think of them using AI training on all of us in those 5 minutes? I'm afraid they use the prescreening to train their AI and screen out most if not all. Stay away for them, not worth your time.
I have had several rejections from this researcher. They do not respond to questions even if you attempt to contact them through their website.
high screen out rates
Often screened out, but they pay a screen-out stipend if they do that, which not all studies do. Studies are interesting if you're not screened out, and they pay reliably after 72 hours.
No issues, approval in 72 hours
Promised a bonus for completion- was never paid, no response, another study there was a tech issue & I wasn't rerouted properly got rejected
