Alerts, ratings, and a timer for your Prolific studies

Turn on study alerts and the extension watches the studies Prolific loads as you browse. The moment a new study appears, you get a desktop notification and an optional sound, so you can grab time-sensitive studies before the places fill up. It also flags studies that re-appear after being gone for a while, with a cooldown you choose.

Only want the good ones? Filter by minimum reward, pay per hour, available places, and keywords, so you're only interrupted for studies worth taking. Detection is passive and read-only: the extension never accepts or completes studies for you.

Step away from the screen without missing the alert: connect Telegram by scanning a QR code in the extension, and the same filtered alerts are pushed to your phone while Chrome and a Prolific tab are still running. Setup takes about a minute and you can disconnect anytime.

Detection happens locally, so the extension cannot find studies while your computer is asleep. Telegram is entirely optional and links only to your Prolific Tea account. We never see your Prolific ID, name, or password; the bot only relays alerts the extension already detected and filtered.

As you browse Prolific, the extension reads the study lists your own browser already loads and shows the matching Prolific Tea rating in its panel, so you can check a researcher's reputation before you start their study. Open any study to jump straight to that researcher's profile on Prolific Tea.

It never changes the Prolific page, never logs into Prolific, and makes no requests to Prolific on its own. It only reads the data your own browsing already loads.

Use the sidebar when you want Prolific Tea to stay visible, or switch to the popup when a study requires the browser's full width or checks viewport resolution. The popup floats over browser content instead of shrinking the study page.

When both modes are supported, a highlighted button remains available in every extension view and switches modes immediately on current Chrome and Edge versions without resetting the timer. Older browser versions save the choice and show the one close/reopen step required. Browsers without a Side Panel API remain popup-only.

Prolific locks you in once you accept a study, so it is easy to lose track of how long one actually takes. The built-in timer lets you start, pause, and resume with one tap, and a small dot on the toolbar icon reminds you it is still running, even when the panel is closed.

When you stop, it shows the minutes you spent, ready to copy into your review's completion time. The timer is completely local: it needs no sign-in and sends nothing anywhere.

Nothing is uploaded in the background. What the extension reads stays on your device until you press Share on a specific study.

When you do, it asks one question: was that study run by an organisation or by an individual person? If you answer individual person, the researcher and publisher names are removed before the request leaves your browser. Before you choose, you can expand See exactly what is sent to read the literal data, both ways.

Sharing is per study because a list is a mix: some studies are run by a university or a company, others by a named person. You answer for the one in front of you, or share nothing at all. Ratings, alerts, and the timer all work either way.

Sharing is switched off at the moment. Prolific Tea is not accepting shared studies for now, and the extension will tell you so rather than pretend it sent something. Everything else works as described.

Only the Prolific study data your own browser loads while you use Prolific:

• your available study list, and
• your submission history.

It keeps only the lightweight facts needed for local features: title, researcher/study IDs, reward, estimated and actual time, and outcome. The study description and every non-whitelisted field are discarded. All of it stays on your device unless you share a study yourself.

• Your name, email, or any personal identifier.
• Your Prolific participant ID: it is never read, stored, or transmitted.
• Your Prolific password or session: the extension never signs in for you.
• Anything from pages outside Prolific.

There is no background upload to switch off, because there is none. Each study you share is a separate decision, and you can read the exact data before you make it. Anything you never share simply stays on your device.
