Browser Extension
The Prolific Tea extension shows each researcher's community rating right next to the studies on your Prolific dashboard, and opens any researcher's page in one click. It works quietly in the background: read-only, no sign-in to Prolific, and nothing personal ever leaves your browser.
As you browse Prolific, the extension reads the study pages you open and shows the matching Prolific Tea rating inline, so you can spot a researcher's reputation before you start their study. Click any study to jump straight to that researcher's profile on Prolific Tea.
It never logs into Prolific, never changes the page, and makes no requests to Prolific on its own. It only observes the data your own browsing already loads.
When you opt in, the extension helps build the shared directory by:
Big institutions like cornell.edupost studies under several different Prolific accounts. Without real data it's impossible to tell which account is which, or to group them correctly. The community data the extension gathers is what lets Prolific Tea tell a genuine institution apart from one person, and show the right researcher behind each study.
Only the Prolific study pages you actually open:
From those it keeps only lightweight study facts: title, researcher/study IDs, reward, estimated and actual time, and the outcome. The study description and everything else are dropped before anything is sent.
The study data is linked only to your Prolific Tea account, so it can repair your own reviews, nothing else.
The first time you open the extension it asks before sharing anything. Sharing is opt-in, and you can turn “List researchers from the studies you see” on or off anytime from the extension's settings. With it off, the extension still shows you ratings; it just contributes nothing to the directory.
